Take action for climate justice!
Ways to get involved in 350VT this fall:
Fall 2023 Highlights
Empower Vermont
Is our electricity in VT really “green” and just? Learn about greenwashing electricity in VT and how you can take action this legislative session to stop it. We'll be hosting education events online and around the state this fall. Join us for our online kickoff event: Thurs. 9/21, 7 p.m. Register here!
Annual Convergence: Skill Up to Power Up!
Join 350VT to build the skills, knowledge, and connections we need to take action for climate justice this year! We'll have a wide range of interactive and engaging workshops, trainings, and work sessions to strengthen some of the important climate projects Vermonters are working on right now. Join us to learn and have fun! Sat. 10/14, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., in-person in Middlebury. Learn more and RSVP!
Stop the McNeil Biomass Plant Expansion
The McNeil Biomass Power Generating Station is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in Vermont and produces particulate pollution known to harm human health. Burlington Electric Department, Vermont Gas, and the Minnesota-based Ever-Green Energy are proposing a $42 million expansion of the power plant to bring steam heat to the University of Vermont Medical Center more than 1.5 miles away. 350VT and Stop VT Biomass oppose the expansion of the McNeil Biomass Plant. We are calling for UVM to draw its heat from and invest the $42 million in a highly efficient, non-polluting, and renewable thermal energy network instead. Please add your name to the petition calling on UVM and BED to drop their plans to expand the McNeil plant. Sign up here to learn more.
Ongoing Ways to Get Involved
Join a local group or statewide working group
350VT has 8 (and growing!) community-oriented teams across the state, as well as several teams that support 350VT’s statewide work in various ways. Join a "node" to meet fellow climate activists, work on local campaigns, and pitch into statewide efforts. Learn more about our nodes and working groups!
Deep canvassing
This fall, we’re talking to our neighbors to find out how people are feeling about the climate crisis and what’s being done about it. Scientifically proven to be an effective way to change minds; anecdotally proven to be very fun!
Climate Action Collective
College students in the Burlington area are taking climate action together. We can have a greater impact working across all the local campuses, not just one school. Join us! Sign up for updates.
Grief gathering
We’ll be gathering monthly in Burlington to renew ourselves by connecting, tending our grief for the change and loss happening in the world, and exploring how to take action. Sign up to receive updates.
