Solidarity
“Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.” —Fannie Lou Hamer, 1971
Our commitment to climate justice means that we recognize that our most vulnerable populations—especially poorer, disabled, and BIPOC folks—bear the brunt of the climate crisis, of fossil fuel pollution, and of systemic inequality. We consider it part of our work to protest the deportation of migrants, to champion the rights of workers, and to uplift indigenous sovereignty. Our struggles are connected; in this lies our power to build a bigger movement and win. Read more.

Electric Ratepayer Protection
Already in place in other states, a ratepayer protection program would lower energy bills for low-income households, making it more accessible for everyday Vermonters to transition their heating and transportation from fossil fuels to electricity. 350Vermont volunteers formed a ratepayer protection working group over the Summer of 2025 and actively engaged with the Public Utility Commission before working with legislators to introduce ratepayer protection legislation this session. Legislative Action
In the second half of the 2024-2025 legislative biennium, 350Vermont has been focused on holding the line on existing climate policy, supporting legislation from our coalition allies, and introducing and mobilizing around our ratepayer protection legislation (H.753). Other legislation we're supporting this session includes a moratorium on data centers (S.205), legislation to legalize plug-in solar in VT, supporting transit funding, and a slate of legislation put forth by the ACLU to protect Vermonters civil rights. Our volunteers have been active, meeting with their legislators, calling into the Statehouse, and working with their local groups to support and oppose a variety of bills. Sign up for our action alerts to get timely asks throughout the legislative session.

Community Weatherization
Insulating and air sealing homes reduces energy use, saves money, and makes people more comfortable in their homes. 350VT nodes across the state are finding ways to support existing weatherization programs and organize hands-on work parties to bring this benefit to more Vermonters. Read more.

Thermal Energy Networks
Thermal energy networks (TENs) provide highly efficient heating and cooling for a neighborhood, town center, or other group of buildings. TENS use ground-source heat pump technology as well as recycling waste heat from industrial or commercial sources—even wastewater! Several 350VT nodes are helping their towns move toward this safe, sustainable, hyperlocal energy infrastructure.

Don't Burn Our Future
Burning biomass (wood products) at a large scale produces harmful pollution and carbon emissions, impacts the health of our forests, and hogs money that could be better invested in truly clean renewable energy. 350VT nodes and allies are fighting the expansion of the McNeil biomass facility in Burlington and a proposed new biomass plant in Lyndonville.
